Background
IPA is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with outstanding research project management, data management, people management, and communication skills as a Field Manager, to support one of IPA Uganda’s study aimed at understanding the coffee supply chain. In particular, how incentives offered to traders affect price pass-through to farmers, and in turn, the quality of coffee harvested and purchased in the value chain as a result. The principal investigators in this study are Lauren Falcao Bergquist (University of Michigan), Ameet Morjaria (Northwestern University), and Jie Bai (Harvard University).
Responsibilities
The Field Manager works in close collaboration with the IPA Research Associate and the Principal investigators. The Research Associate is responsible for the successful implementation of the project to which the Field Manager is assigned. The Field Manager maintains open communication with the Research Associate and the Principal Investigators, reporting regularly on work progress and any potential problems as well as following his/her guidelines for effective implementation of the fieldwork.
Specific roles
- Liaison between the Principal Investigators, Innovations for poverty-action, and partner organizations.
- Collect administrative data from the partner organization, ensure confidentiality and storage protocols are well adhered to.
- Efficiently enter data by use of the provided tools and as of the schedule provided.
- Developing strong and successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and any other local Authorities.
- To provide the Research Associate and Principal Investigators with detailed project status reports, including progress against agreed plans/milestones and highlighting significant project risks, issues, and changes.
- Assist the PI team in data analysis as requested.
- Assisting in managing relationships with partner organizations, and researchers.
- Keep the Research Associate and the PI team appraised of the work progress
- And any other duties as assigned by your supervisor, which is commensurate with your level in the organization.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a coordinator/data analysis position is desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft packages in Excel and Word is a MUST.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate work effectively over email and phone
- Flexible, self-motivating and team player.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with stakeholders (PIs and partner organizations).
- Demonstrated commitment to IPA’s high standards of data quality.
Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Experience working with partner organizations is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Stata
