Job Description
Summary
The role of the Agriculture Business Development Executive is to work closely with the Business Development Director and Marketing Manager in developing and executing the Agribusiness and Agriculture Insurance Business Strategy; identifying and securing new business opportunities in the Agriculture & Agribusiness sector and building relationship with current and prospective clients in the same sector.
Works with other Business Development resources to sell the organization's Agriculture & Agribusiness products and/or services to prospects. Selling activity occurs, generally via telephone; emails, digital channels/social media and in-person prospects or field visits.
Identifies, develops and cultivates external demand for Minet Agribusiness and Agriculture Insurance services and positions Minet to win the work. Sells moderately complex services/solutions.
Applies company policies and procedures to deliver the Business development activities.
Role-specific Technical Skills and Knowledge
Individual with knowledge of the principles and practices within the Agriculture discipline. Knowledge of Insurance would be an added advantage
Experience of working directly with Commercial Farmers (in any subsector – crop, livestock, piggery, aquaculture, NGO, trade Association etc.)
Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
Be computer literate and Proficient in MS Office suite- MS Word & Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
Communication and Collaboration skills. Ability to communicate effectively; excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills; listening skills and ability to ask probing questions, understand concerns & overcome objections.
Strong sales and Negotiation skills
Strategic management skills
Knowledge of the Insurance Industry and its current events/trends
Time management and Organizational skills
Education & Certification
A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture Economics is preferable
Completed any other trainings related to the Agriculture sector
Must be a member of any Agriculture/Agribusiness body, Trade Association or Student Association.
Work Experience
Have a minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar or related role in Insurance or any other Industry
Be dependable and respect confidentiality
Strong work ethics and self-starter, able to effectively manage multiple priorities and adapt to change within a fast-paced business environment.
Be a team player, have the ability to build good relationships, support and actively participate in, and contribute to any team initiatives
